It’s all about hair

I have to admit when  I decided to grow my hair again 4 years ago I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Long hair means high maintenance. And if you are living in UK or Denmark you know it’s even more difficult to obtain healthy moisturised locks when the water is so hard. On top of this, there’s a lot of humidity in the air which makes my hair go extremely frizzy. The trick i’m trying to achieve here is to get that perfect balance – something for wavy hair, enhance the blonde-ginger colour, clean the scalp gently, moisturise from mid-length to ends and get a smooth finish. Easy right?!

Since I’ve had my hair long I became a bit more conscious about what I’m buying and I’m investing in good quality products. I tried a couple of organic shampoos and conditioners which can be found at any health shops, like the Australian Organics or Faith in Nature range. I also tried Godiva solid shampoo from Lush which has the most amazing jasmine smell (love their cosmetic range and soaps!) and then went for the coconut solid shampoo and conditioner, but nothing seemed to work like I needed.

So I shifted my focus to salon hair products. These are a bit more expensive but it’s really worth investing, your hair would say thank you!

At the moment I’m using  Davines hair products which is not only a sustainable family run company but I think is one of the best brands in the world when it comes to shampoos and conditioners. Their products are amazingly good! They have a broad range of hair care products for any type of hair. I am using the Alchemic Shampoo and Conditioner Copper, suitable for my hair colour. These are colour shampoo and conditioner containing pigments colour directly without the activator use, so they are enhancing natural or cosmetic copper hair.

How do I use it: I usually apply the shampoo on damp hair 2 times and rinse really really well with warm water. Then I apply  the conditioner and distribute it throughout the hair with a detangling comb. After 10 – 15 minutes I rinse again with warm water really well. It’s so important to rinse the hair well after each step so the hair remains clean.

An important thing for me about these products is the fact that they clean very gently and I don’t feel the need to wash my hair everyday. They also contain milk proteins which moistures and protect and my hair is soooo silky and smooth!

Another product I want to show you is an All-in-one Milk, and you’ll soon understand why this is my favourite!

Before I start drying my hair, I apply OI All-in-One Milk from Davines on ends for that extra moisture, softness and silkiness. This is definitely one of my favourite hair products, because you can use it on wet or dry hair almost as a leave in conditioner. It becomes super easy to detangle my hair, which usually gets tangled so quickly. Because of it’s particularly rich and nourishing formula the milk gives body to the hair, so it doesn’t feel flat and limp. I’m not a crazy fan of big hair, but I like to have a bit of body and volume to the hair. There are some days with so much humidity in the air and so I apply it every time my ends feel dry or when my hair gets frizzy. It just helps the hair sit nicely showing off the natural waves. I haven’t even managed to say so far that the smell is fantastic because of the roucou oil, an amazing oil also known for preventing hair ageing. Yes, after a certain age (especially when you discover your first white hair and start going crazy) we have to start thinking about ageing also!

I’m always looking tips and trick when it comes to hair care, so please don’t be shy share them with us! 🙂
