How’s your summer looking? I’m about to end a long vacation and leave behind the hot summer days, lounging by the pool and taking in all the sun. If I were payed for the time I can spend sunbathing, I would be the richest girl on the planet. I’d be at it 24/7. Since I’m such a sucker for sunbathing, I thought I might share with you some of the products that help me get that brown summerish glow.
There are three things that I have in mind when sun tanning: exfoliate, hydrate and protect. Exfoliating your body and getting rid of the dead cells leaves your skin fresh and allows for your tan to last longer. When it comes to protection, I can assure you that the sun is not the same as a few years ago. I slowly advanced from not using any sun protection to be addicted to my SPF30.
Nivea Sun is the first product I ever tried, and I’m never giving up on it. It just works great for my skin, and since I’ve been using for years, the scent brings back so many memories from my vacations. For me, it smells like summer and seaside. And this year, I was pleasantly surprised to find the new Tan Activating Protecting Oil version. Fancy words, I know, but it actually does the job. Despite the high SPF, I could see tan lines after only two days. And no sunburns.
My other go to cosmetic line is Hawaiian Tropic. Ever since I discovered this line in the South of France five years ago, I’ve been trying to get my hands on their products. The downside is that you can’t get them in Denmark, but they’re available in all supermarkets everywhere else in Europe. This year I picked the Satin Protection cream for my face (SPF30), because Nivea Sun is a little oily, but you can use it all over your body, since it has a bit of shimmer and glows amazingly in the sun. Both of my choices are water resistant, but I still reapply after having been in the water.
And lastly, hydration. After every shower, but actually, whenever I get the chance (so maybe more than a few times a day :), I use coconut oil. No body lotion for me during summer, just pure, cold pressed coconut oil. It’s absorbed very fast and doesn’t leave an oily feel, just soft and glowing skin. And it really helps with prolonging the tan. I might be smelling like a Bounty bar all the time, but I happened to love it.
