La Rochelle is one of the prettiest, small, French cities I’ve had the chance to visit. It’s guarded by its two 14th century towers, Tour St-Nicolas and Tour de la Chaîne, which can be found at the entrance of the harbour. It’s a charming student city, filled with historical ambiance. Its stone arcades, tangled narrow streets and white marble walls put you in the mood of re-reading The Three Musketeers 🙂 You could spend hours just walking around, admiring the architecture, sipping wine and window-shopping. Yes! La Rochelle is a shoppers heaven, you can find anything you need and much more.
It’s a great destination! Besides, it’s just across the bridge from one of the most famous French islands: Ile de Ré. Stay close! Another post about Ile de Ré is coming soon!
